(WO) — ADNOC has awarded McDermott an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract valued at more than $1 billion for an offshore pressure boosting facility at the Umm Shaif field in Abu Dhabi.
The award covers Package 4 of the Umm Shaif Integrated Gas Cap and Surface Pressure Boosting Project, a component of ADNOC’s long-term development plan for the field. The project is designed to maximize gas recovery and increase production from Umm Shaif.
Under the contract, McDermott and its Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW) consortium will provide the full EPCI scope for a new surface pressure boosting facility. Work includes construction and installation of a jacket and topside, along with associated brownfield modifications to existing infrastructure.
McDermott said the topside will rank among the heaviest offshore modules ever installed in the Middle East once completed.

Engineering and project management will be led from McDermott’s offices in the United Arab Emirates, while fabrication will take place at the QMW joint-venture yard in Qingdao, China.
McDermott did not disclose the specific contract value but classified the award as “mega,” which the company defines as a contract worth more than $1 billion.
