(WO) — The American Petroleum Institute (API) and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand technical cooperation on natural gas, hydrogen and low-carbon energy standards.
The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration on industry standards, workforce development, certification and technical knowledge sharing. It combines API’s portfolio of more than 800 standards and certification programs with KOGAS’s experience in natural gas infrastructure, LNG operations and emerging energy technologies.
“While API brings globally recognized standards and industry expertise, KOGAS contributes extensive expertise and leadership in LNG operations, infrastructure and emerging energy technologies, including hydrogen,” said Anchal Liddar, API senior vice president of Global Industry Services.
KOGAS has already nominated 11 technical experts to participate in API standards committees and established an internal framework to support the collaboration.
The organizations also plan to explore further cooperation on API certification programs and expand KOGAS’s involvement in developing and revising technical standards covering natural gas, hydrogen and low-carbon energy.
