(WO) – CompareNetworks, parent company of Gulf Energy Information and GlobalSpec, has acquired Empowering Pumps & Equipment and is introducing Flow Systems (flowsystemsnetwork.com), a new industrial media community covering pumps, valves, seals, motors, drives and instrumentation.
Flow Systems brings together the complementary strengths of three established businesses: the specialist industry community developed by Empowering Pumps & Equipment, the technical media expertise and energy-industry reach of Gulf Energy Information, and GlobalSpec’s engineering product discovery platform.
The new brand will provide industry news, technical content and educational resources for engineers, operators and maintenance professionals who specify, purchase, operate and maintain industrial equipment. For manufacturers, the combination creates opportunities to engage relevant technical audiences through the established communities and platforms of the three businesses.
Charli Matthews Carruth, who founded Empowering Pumps & Equipment in 2010, will lead Flow Systems as brand leader, alongside the existing Empowering Pumps team.
“It’s never been just about the pumps. It’s about the systems they support and the people behind them,” Carruth said. “A pump doesn’t operate in isolation. Neither does a manufacturer, an engineer, an operator or a maintenance technician. Our industries are connected, and our media should reflect that.”
Empowering Pumps has grown from a website serving the global pump industry into an established community of manufacturers, engineers, operators, maintenance professionals and industry leaders. Its programs, including the Empowering Industry Podcast and Industry Access plant tours, will continue under Flow Systems.
The new brand will expand editorial coverage across connected industrial equipment and technologies, including controls, reliability and energy efficiency. Its coverage will span refining, petrochemicals, pipelines, gas processing and LNG, water and wastewater, and industrial processing.
“This acquisition is about bringing together complementary strengths, not simply adding another publication,” said Paul Gatti, CEO of CompareNetworks. “Charli and her team have built a trusted community with deep industry relationships. By combining that foundation with Gulf Energy Information’s technical expertise and GlobalSpec’s engineering resources, we have an opportunity to create something more valuable for the professionals and manufacturers serving these industries.”
Flow Systems is being introduced at the Pumps & Valves Innovation Conference (PVIC) in Houston. The full website is scheduled to launch in January 2027, when the Empowering Pumps community and content archive will move to Flow Systems. Existing Empowering Pumps programs and partner commitments will continue through the end of 2026.
