(WO) — Seadrill Limited has secured new offshore drilling contracts and extensions in Indonesia, Malaysia, Angola and the U.S. Gulf, including a $420 million award for the West Carina drillship, strengthening its contracted rig activity through 2030.
In Indonesia, the West Carina was awarded a contract with an undisclosed operator valued at approximately $420 million for a firm duration of 880 days. The contract includes a mobilization fee but excludes additional services, with priced options available for up to another 880 days. Operations are expected to begin in the first half of 2027.
In Malaysia, Seadrill secured extensions for the West Capella totaling approximately $94 million. The operator exercised all remaining priced options, adding 120 days and approximately $41 million in contract value. An additional 120 days of previously unpriced options were also exercised, contributing approximately $53 million. The rig is now expected to continue operations through February 2028.
Offshore Angola, Sonadrill Holding Ltd., Seadrill’s 50:50 joint venture with an affiliate of Sonangol E.P., secured a contract extension for the Sonangol Libongos. The exercise of all remaining priced options extends the rig’s operations by approximately three years, keeping it contracted through January 2030.
In the U.S. Gulf, the Sevan Louisiana was awarded a 25-day drilling contract with Kosmos, with operations scheduled to begin in November 2026. Financial terms for the Angola extension and U.S. Gulf contract were not disclosed.
“The West Carina award marks the achievement of our longstanding strategic objective to reprice three legacy dayrate contracts to current market levels,” said Samir Ali, president and CEO of Seadrill.
Ali added that the West Carina and West Capella agreements reflect increasing offshore drilling activity in Southeast Asia, while the Sonangol Libongos extension reinforces the company’s position in Angola.
Seadrill said more than 85% of its available drillship days for 2027 are now contracted, providing greater revenue visibility as the company advances its offshore drilling programs across multiple regions.
