(WO) — Seatrium is preparing the P-80 and P-82 FPSOs to sail for Petrobras’ Búzios field offshore Brazil, where the two units will add a combined 450,000 bpd of oil production capacity.
The FPSOs, which were christened Aug. 27 at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore, are expected to depart within weeks of each other for the Búzios field in the pre-salt Santos basin. P-80 and P-82 will become the ninth and tenth FPSOs, respectively, producing from the field.
Each unit is designed to produce up to 225,000 bpd of oil and process 12 Mcm of gas per day. Each FPSO also has approximately 250,000 bpd of water-injection capacity and can store about 2.5 MMbbl of oil.
Together, P-80 and P-82 are expected to increase Búzios’ installed production capacity by approximately 34%. The field, Brazil’s largest by reserves and production, has already surpassed 1.2 million bpd, according to Petrobras.
“With production scheduled to begin next year, the two units together will enable production from the Búzios field to increase by 450,000 bopd,” Petrobras President Magda Chambriard said.
P-80 and P-82 are the second and third turnkey FPSOs delivered under Petrobras’ P-Series program by Seatrium, following P-78, which sailed from Singapore in 2025.
Seatrium fabricated more than 110,000 metric tons of topside modules for P-80 and P-82 across yards in Singapore, China and Brazil before completing integration and commissioning at its Singapore facility.
The FPSOs incorporate carbon capture and reinjection capabilities, energy recovery systems and other technologies designed to reduce emissions from offshore production.
Seatrium is concurrently managing six FPSO projects for Petrobras. Once online, the six units are expected to provide approximately 1.3 MMbpd of combined oil production capacity.
P-80 and P-82 are now moving toward offshore commissioning and startup at Búzios, with production from both units scheduled to begin in 2027.
