(WO) — DMT GmbH & Co. KG has ordered 6,000 Sercel Accel drop nodes for a large-scale seismic acquisition program supporting geothermal exploration in the Munich region of Germany.
The nodes will be deployed as part of an urban seismic survey designed to collect subsurface data for geothermal energy development across the greater Munich area.
Accel, which Sercel describes as the world’s first drop node, uses a droppable deployment method intended to accelerate field operations while maintaining seismic data quality and improving operational safety. The technology is also compatible with Sercel’s existing nodal equipment, allowing it to be integrated with existing seismic acquisition fleets.
“For a project of this scale and complexity, we need solutions that combine operational efficiency, proven reliability and outstanding seismic performance,” said Christian Henke, DMT’s Head of Seismic Exploration. “Sercel has consistently demonstrated its ability to deliver innovative and dependable technologies, giving us full confidence in Accel’s ability to support the high-quality data acquisition required for this important geothermal project.”
The order follows the first commercial deployment of Sercel’s Accel technology earlier in 2026 and represents another large-scale application of the recently launched seismic acquisition system.
Sercel CEO Jérôme Denigot said the contract reflects growing demand for nodal technologies designed to increase seismic acquisition productivity without compromising data quality or safety.
