(WO) — Siemens Energy has been selected by SBM Offshore to supply power generation and gas compression systems for two Petrobras floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels planned for the Sergipe-Alagoas Deepwater development offshore Brazil.
The equipment will be installed on the P-81 and P-87 FPSOs, which are being developed for the SEAP I and SEAP II projects. Together, the platforms are designed to produce up to 240,000 bpd of oil and process 22 MMcmd of natural gas.
Siemens Energy will deliver 16 modular equipment skids—eight for each FPSO—including gas turbine generators for power generation, gas turbine-driven compressor trains for gas processing and export, and electrically driven compressors for gas reinjection.
“The offshore market is evolving toward increasingly personalized and large-scale projects, where competitive timelines and execution are as critical as the technology itself,” said Marcela Souza, senior vice president of Siemens Energy for Latin America.
Most of the equipment will be assembled at Siemens Energy’s manufacturing facility in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, Brazil, supporting the project’s local content requirements. The company said the first equipment package is scheduled for delivery to SBM Offshore by the end of 2027, with remaining deliveries continuing through 2028.
The Sergipe-Alagoas Deepwater development is one of Brazil’s largest offshore oil and gas projects. Associated gas from the FPSOs will be exported to shore through a dedicated pipeline, supplying the domestic market while reducing flaring and gas reinjection. Oil production is expected to begin in 2030, with gas exports targeted to start in 2031.
