(WO) — Norway-based subsurface data company Logtek AS has selected Emerson‘s AspenTech Geolog software to automate subsurface data and petrophysics workflows supporting oil and gas operators across the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).
Logtek provides quality control, data management, regulatory reporting and petrophysical analysis for upstream operators in Norway. The company selected AspenTech Geolog following a technical evaluation and will replace a legacy third-party software system with the platform.
The technology will be integrated with Logtek’s internally developed solutions to automate work processes and custom scripts while improving the processing and analysis of well-log data. Logtek expects the system to reduce turnaround times and improve efficiency as it evaluates large volumes of subsurface data for E&P customers.
“To successfully optimize our internal solutions, we needed a tool with the right balance of sophisticated technical features and flexibility, allowing us to continue delivering the high-quality data we are known for, with greater efficiency and automation,” said Lars J. Fjell, chairman of the board at Logtek.
AspenTech Geolog is part of Emerson’s AspenTech Subsurface Science & Engineering portfolio and supports multi-well and multi-user datasets. The portfolio is developed in alignment with the OSDU Data Platform to support interoperability and data management across subsurface workflows.
Logtek and sister company Petroware have previously conducted proof-of-concept projects with Norwegian energy companies focused on using the OSDU standard to streamline data management and collaboration.
“Maximizing the value of existing subsurface data has become essential for upstream operators navigating today’s industry challenges,” said Vikas Dhole, senior vice president of modeling and optimization with Emerson’s Aspen Technology business.
Emerson said the combination of automated petrophysical analysis and standardized data management is intended to help Logtek’s customers more efficiently evaluate existing well data and identify potential exploration and production opportunities.
